WIWTWA: Awesome Faux Fur
WIWTWA: What I Wore Two Weeks Ago. It finally got chilly enough to wear big coats without looking like a crazy person a few weeks ago but I totally forgot I took pictures of this outfit. Its been a hectic two weeks (this was pre redying my hair so it was a while ago).
Picture block because I love that coat to death! It has this little patch on the inside that says "MADE IN ENGLAND" with a little British Royal Guard on it. Its faux fur with little suede insets on the sides and a suede belt. I felt so comfy and regal all at the same time. Plus a ton of people complimented it and it made my Friday awesome. My mom found it at Goodwill for 14 bucks!
PS I need a hair cut yo, this shit is getting out of control.

Flea Market: a la Lindsay Weir
I don't know what's come over me lately, but to say the least I've been rocking a very Freaks and Geeks look real hard.
I also bought an awesome knife that comes with its own pouch, the pouch has a belt loop so this baby is sticking with me. The knife locks into place so it wont suddenly snap closed on my fingers ever again.
So yeah I'm slowly morphing into Lindsay Weir...and hey I'm down with that.
yeah yeah yeah mirror photos lameness but setting up a tripod is time consuming brah
I bought an Army jacket yesterday at the Long Beach Flea Market even though I already have an army green button up and an army green short sleeve and I'm out of control with the army stuff you guys!

Wow a Rookie
Last week I went to some Rookie Mag events in LA and it was awesome. I went with a friend and my (awesome) mom who drove us there because freeways are scary (when you have to drive them).
So yeah here's what I wore, excuse the messy room or don't its whatever my room is blah! My camera had no batteries so webcam photos all the way.
So I really wanted to wear a skirt and this shirt I've been dying to wear since I got it but it was cold so I had to warm it up.
Top: Divided H&M, Undertop: Thrifted Purple Leotard, Coat: Thrifted Corduroy Blazer, Skirt: American Apparel, Socks: Thigh High's from Target
Also I dyed my hair again. I just bleached the roots and then dyed it pink. It was a mix of two pinks that I had left over from when I first dyed my tips pink. Because of the blue previously most of it turned purple, and underneath its like dark silvery blue.
"Thought you might like some Bowie. ♥ Pops"
Also when I got home I found this on my desk, my dad is the best so yeah.
And he bought me that even though I terrified him all day with this Giraffe mask. He hates it so much that he had to take it out of his room (my mom bought it at the zoo) and when I found it in the living room I proceeded to wear it in his car when we went to the store. This is my thank you to my father for putting up with my shit.

Kubrick Exhibit: Members Night Thingy
all photos by me taken on my shite phone camera
Last night was really nice. The exhibit was very cool and I had a fun time with my mom (we didn't even real fight you guys!) I'd have to say if you have a chance you should definitely go on over to LACMA and check it out. Plus they had free tea and coffee and cookies and like chips and salsa and quesadillas and stuff last night which was cool. My mom likes to pretend she's fancy and rich by being a member of like every museum and stuff but every once in a while it has its perks.
I don't like telling my parents what directors I enjoy because for the sake of it all I probably sound like a pretentious ass once I list off my favorites. But I do genuinely enjoy Kurbick's work and so I'm glad my mom took me even though she doesn't really know that I like him. I swear one day I'll stop caring about looking like a dickhead in front of my family, but now is not that day.

Dia de los Muertos
If you don't know what dia de los muertos is lemme give you a short run down. Basically its a way that we (we being Mexicans and other cultures) honor the dead that have passed in our lives. The celebration is usually relegated to family members who have passed. We make Altares, shrines to the dead with their pictures and some of their favorite things. Plus candles, special flowers called cempasúchil (marigolds), pan de muerto (bread of the dead), and sugar skulls. Basically you celebrate the great life the person had and the joy they brought you while they were with you. There are similar celebrations all over the world but this one takes place November's 1st and 2nd, starting with Dia de los Inocentes and then Dia de los Muertos. The holiday has roots in Aztec pagan tradition in which it was a whole month of celebration with decorations being actual skulls which were symbols of death and rebirth, and now it is celebrated with big parties and face paint and loads of fun.
Our altar to our loved ones, with home made sugar skulls and Oingo Boingo because who doesn't love Oingo Boingo.

sorry for the bad mirror selfies but I had no actual camera with me dress: H&M, flower crown:DIY
So for the past couple of years my mom has been taking us to the Noche de Altares festival in downtown Santa Ana to celebrate We paint our faces up at home and then walk around to all the altares and stop at the little craft shops.
these are sort of post party so my lips have worn off a bit due to eating the biggest torta i have ever eaten
And for my grand reveal, I got a really rad necklace while I was there. It was either the necklace or a wallet that was hand painted but I figured after the purchase I would have no money to put in the wallet so meh.
necklace: i'm pretty sure they were called ponk esta muerto
The colors are perfect and its 3D gaudiness is perfect and I love it. And even though I fell like two seconds into being there and scrapped up my knee it was still just as fun.
as you can see the fall ripped my sock a bit and scuffed the front of my shoe:lame

Before We Forget About Halloween...
I know I said I would be Princess Mononoke, but I always run out of time to really put that one together in a way that I would be totally please with. So instead I was a boy, yet again. I was Sam Shakusky and it came out pretty good.
For review lets just see what I looked like in previous years.
So there you have it, I was Sam Shakusky, I guess I could have been Suzy but I sort of already am like every other day of the year. I made patches, and I pinned every pin possible on my shirt, I had a den number (troupe 55) and a backpack.
"C'est le temps de l'amour,
Le temps des copains et de l'aventure."

Halloween 2010, Finn the Human Boy w/ friend as Jake
Halloween 2011, Max King of the Wild Things, with friends Mordecai and Rigby/ Esmeralda and Gangster
So what I'm boys for Halloween. Not girly versions of boy things, no more so girly than what being a girl already make the costume, just boys. And that is totally ok, because that's what Halloween is for! Yeah you can revel in the fact that you're a girl and wear a princess dress, but I can do that any day of the year because I am a girl. But do I always get to run around dressed like a wild thing? Or an adventurer? Or a Khaki Scout?! No because they have girl scouts for girlified versions of all the cool stuff boy scouts get to do which sucks, also the uniform isn't as cool. So since I get to be a "princess" or whatever every other day of the year I take this time to revel in the joys of being whatever the hell I want.
I have the shoes and everything you just can't see them here
Oh yeah and my little bro was two face and it was bad ass.
Also I made the hat and shorts, fuck yeah home made costumes.

Also, I didn't have a fancy brooch like Sam so I wore my girl power brooch. "It's not meant for a male to wear but I don't give a damn."
